Cheque Time: Jackie Faulkner and Rene Bolt, centre presenting the £1,500 to Pat Young and Caroline Mortimer, left from the Breast Cancer team, and Dr. John LeVay and Liz McEvan, right of the Radiotherapy Department of the Ipswich Hospital.

Jackie Faulkner, of Diss, made the discovery every woman dreads when she found a lump in her breast. But she is convinced that being well-informed about her body and following the advice to check her breasts regularly helped save her life. Jackie was so grateful to the doctors at Ipswich Hospital, who carried out three operations and a course of radiotherapy, that she organised a raffle and social evening at Diss Football Club. Music and cabaret was provided by her son in law and two granddaughters, and the £1,500 raised by Mrs. Faulkner with the help of friends has now been presented to the hospital team.
